Substantial FAROS contributions at CRAS 2023
16 members of the FAROS project were present at CRAS 2023 held at Sorbonne University in Paris. With 8 extended abstracts published including 7 oral presentation and 1 poster displayed, FAROS largely contributed to the success of the 12th edition of the Conference on New Technologies for Computer/Robot Assisted Surgery
Topics ranged, among others, from autonomous trocar docking to various bone breach detection algorithms using different sensing techniques to novel ultrasound based technologies for spine surgery.
Ayoob Davoodi, Antoine Harlé, and Ruixuan Li also set up impressive demonstrations that were put in light during the coffee- and lunch-breaks. Pedicles were drilled on a phantom autonomously after feature based registration; spines were scanned with ultrasound robotically through hybrid force position control; and an augmented reality user interface registered to the robot frame was used to position the drilling system.
To be noted that Antoine Harlé, Lilyan Leblanc, Guillaume Morel, and Emmanuel Vander Poorten were more than actively involved in the organization of the conference.
The members of the FAROS project warmly thank the organizing committee for enabling scientific dissemination and all present colleagues for their interest and support.
Next edition will take place in Odense, Denmark, and the FAROS project intends to be present there as well.
